Lodestar Trio is a unique collaboration between Scandinavian folk music stars Erik Rydvall (Swedish nyckelharpa) and Olav Mjelva (Norwegian hardanger fiddle) and British-German violin virtuoso Max Baillie.

Programme to include their uniquely re-imagined versions of pieces from Bach cello suites, violin sonatas and partitas for solo violin, and other Baroque works by Merula and Couperin, Lully, alongside traditional and contemporary Nordic tunes.

The Lodestar Trio will be joined by three members of the Fibonacci Quartet and Levi ASndreassen, double bass, for a performance of Grieg’s Holberg Suite, composed 1884 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the poet Ludwig Holberg (1684-1754).

Members of the trio will talk about their historic instruments, the Norwegian Hardanger violin and the Swedish Nykelharpa.
